6/7/2015 0 Comments Faberge Inspired Sugar EggEarlier this year Suzanne was asked to create a sugar egg for a feature in Cake Masters magazine. Fourteen UK cake artists each contributed a 30cm high egg inspired by the eggs made by the House of Faberge. Suzanne's design was based on the 1902 clover leaf egg made of green gold, platinum, rose-cut diamonds and rubies. The "surprise" inside Suzanne's interpretation of the egg is a cute little fairy holding a fairy cake. Karl Faberge was appointed supplier to the Russian Crown and the clover leaf egg was one of the Imperial Easter eggs made as a gift from the Tsar to the Tsarina. As a humorous nod to the history of the Faberge eggs and the current popularity of baking and cake decorating, Suzanne's egg was adorned with a hand-painted portrait of the UK's Queen of Cakes, Mary Berry. The egg was exhibited at Cake International, London between March 27th and 29th, 2015 and is currently on display at The Frostery in Uppermill. In the news...
